Cooke & Co Covid-19 Update and Reflection

Cooke & Co Covid-19 Update and Reflection

The COVID-19 pandemic was an extraordinary period in modern history that affected communities, families and businesses across the United Kingdom and the world.

Like many organisations, Cooke & Co experienced both good and difficult times throughout this period. However, what stood out most was the way people supported each other. Our team pulled together, our clients were incredibly understanding and the wider Thanet community showed remarkable kindness and resilience.

We have chosen to keep this page on our website as a reminder of that time. It reflects a period when communities came together, neighbours helped one another and many people made great sacrifices. Sadly, many families also lost loved ones and our thoughts remain with everyone who was affected.

The information below reflects the procedures we implemented during the pandemic and the Government guidance that was in place at the time.

Cooke & Co Covid-19 Procedures – February 2022

At the time of this update, Government guidance had begun to change as the country moved towards living with COVID-19.

From 24 February 2022:

  • Individuals were no longer legally required to self-isolate if they tested positive for COVID-19, although staying at home and avoiding contact with others where possible was still advised.
  • People were no longer required to take daily tests following contact with someone who tested positive.
  • The Test and Trace Support Payment Scheme ended, although claims relating to earlier isolation periods could still be made.

Despite the changing rules, Cooke & Co continued to prioritise the safety of our staff, clients and members of the public.

Safety Measures We Implemented

  • Home based working where possible
  • Social distancing measures within offices
  • PPE equipment available for staff where appropriate
  • Use of masks and gloves in certain situations
  • Reduced face to face contact where alternative communication was possible

These measures were introduced to help protect both our staff and our clients during a period of great uncertainty.

Branch Procedures During the Pandemic

During parts of the pandemic our offices in Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate operated primarily by appointment to minimise risk and maintain safe working practices.

Where possible, communication was conducted via telephone, email, video meetings or secure online platforms.

Essential appointments such as property signings were carefully managed and only arranged when necessary.

Digital systems including DocuSign allowed many agreements to be completed securely without physical meetings.

Continuing to Support Clients

Estate agency is fundamentally a people business. Throughout the pandemic we continued to support sellers, buyers, landlords and tenants as best we could in extremely challenging circumstances.

Our teams worked hard to progress property sales, assist tenants and landlords, and help clients navigate constantly changing rules and guidance.

We remain extremely grateful for the patience, understanding and kindness shown by our clients during that time.

A Reminder of Community Spirit

The pandemic was a difficult chapter for many people. However it also reminded us of the strength of community spirit, particularly here in Thanet.

Neighbours helped neighbours, local businesses supported each other and people showed tremendous resilience.

We keep this page as a small reminder of that period and of the many people who were affected by it.

At Cooke & Co we are proud of the way our team supported each other and our clients during those challenging years.

We continue to move forward while remembering those who were less fortunate and the lessons learned during that time.
