Travelling is easy to and from Thanet

With the much improved road network, there is a dual carriageway system from the outskirts of Ramsgate that will whisk you to Dover in one direction in about 31 minutes for the Continent or to the Thanet Way for Faversham and the M2 to London in the other. It is only 75 miles from Central London and 72 miles to the Blackwall Tunnel, so you could be in Canary Wharf in a little over an hour.
Canterbury is less than 13 miles from Birchington and it takes under 20 minutes to get to this historic city with its ancient buildings, range of high street and individual shops as well as a plethora of delightful restaurants and entertainment facilities.
Thanet is very well catered for when it comes to travelling by train. With seven railway stations providing regular services to St Pancras, Charing Cross, Cannon Street and Victoria you pays your money and takes your choice. The new high speed rail link means that you can be in St Pancras from Ramsgate in 1 hour 15 minutes during the rush hour.
For those looking to spending a day in France topping up on the wine or going on holiday in Europe, it is about 20 miles to Dover ferry terminal from Ramsgate and it will take you just over half an hour to drive there. The Channel Tunnel terminal at Cheriton, near Folkestone is around 33 miles away and you can then be in France in 35 minutes.
